| Mentor Opportunities |
| We’re always so thankful for our mentors! Student Mentors help make LabSpace possible. If your child is interested in becoming a mentor we have lots of opportunities coming up.
Students who have been through several LabSpace classes can make great mentors for beginners. Sharing what you know is a wonderful gift to our current students and it will help you grow. Mentors must be 12 years and older and new mentors require the approval of Miss Annette- email me: Annette@LabSpaceRobotics.com Feel free to call me if you have questions (573) 645-0800
Thursday, April 16 9:00-12:30 Fieldtrip
This is a fieldtrip for 3rd graders. Mentors will assist students with their projects and assist teachers with resetting rooms between groups. Friday, May 1 4:00-7:00 Robot Parade Set-UpMentors will assist any students whose robots need some last minute touches. Mentors will also help getting the parade route ready for Saturday. Saturday, May 2 9:00-11:30 or 11:30-2:30 Robot Parade DayIn the early session, mentors will be assisting students with their last minute updates to their robots and helping students test their robots. They will be cheerleaders for all the students. We’ll also put finishing touches on the robot parade route. In the second session, we’ll be helping students and cheering them on. We’ll also be helping to reset after the parade. June 8-11 Robotics/Engineering Camp grades 1-3 8:45-12:00Mentors will be assisting students as needed and cheering them on. They will assist teachers with tidying and resetting the room for different activities. June 10 Mentor Prep 4:00-6:00Mentors will help prepare project kits for upcoming classes and help with testing of projects. June 22-25 Design, Build, Battle!/Game Design 12:30-4:15Mentors in this camp should enjoy sumobots and lots of exciting commotion! It will be loud. Your job is to assist students with their robots and cheer them on. This class can be very high energy, which means emotions may run high. Mentors in this camp should probably be 13+ and have the ability to step back and observe the big picture in a high-energy room. The second half of the afternoon will be game design. It will be considerably less chaotic:) Mentors in this should have Click Team Fusion experience. Mentors interested in presenting a portion of the camp under supervision should contact Miss Annette so we can decide what might be appropriate. 4-H Robotics Workshops – Saturday June 20 and 27 9:45-12:15Mentors should plan to attend both sessions. This will be a beginning Lego Mindstorms robotics class for 4-H members who would like to try out the 4-H Robotics Project. Mentors for this should have taken at least 2 Robotics classes with LabSpace, or have similar experience. They anticipate the age range being 8-11, but there might be some older students as well. The workshop ends at 12 on both days and mentors will help reset the classroom in preparation for Mondays classes. Tech Camp July 6-9 12:45-4:30Mentors should have experience with Mindstorms Robotics and/or 3D printing and design with TinkerCAD. Mentors will assist students with projects and help as needed. Mentors interested in presenting a portion of the camp under supervision should contact Miss Annette so we can decide what might be appropriate. Doll House Camp June 13-16 8:45-12:30Mentors in this camp should love crafting! It would be helpful to have some experience in TinkerCAD so you can help troubleshoot as students design furnishings for this houses. You’ll assist students on project that need more than one hand and think outside the box to help them come up with new ideas for how to create amazing furninshings for their houses. We anticipate this been a very messy camp, as often happens when we’re being creative, so we’ll all be pitching in along the way to keep supplies organized. We’ll spend time after students leave resetting for the next day. Brownie and Daisy Girl Scout Camp July 20-22 8:45-12:30This camp is Girl Scouts grades 1-3. They will be working on their Robotics, Coding and Engineering Badges. We’d love to have older Girl Scouts join us to mentor! No prior experience is necessary. Priority will be given to girl mentors in this workshop. Fieldtrips on July 22/23 12:00-3:30These are smaller fieldtrips (15-16 students) from a local afterschool program. From 12:00-12:45 we’ll be getting LabSpace ready for their trip. Students will arrive at 1:00 and stay until 3:00, then we’ll spend 30 minutes tidying up. |

| Dollhouse: Mini-Maker Camp |
| Dollhouse: Mini-Maker CampCreative Crafting Meets 3D DesignBuild. Design. Create. Welcome to a camp where your imagination comes to life! The Mini-Maker Studio is a hands-on workshop designed for creators who love to build, style, and customize. We’re combining the tactile fun of traditional crafting with the “superpower” of 3D printing to help you start your own miniature world. A Maker’s Masterpiece in ProgressThis camp is about more than just a finished product; it’s about gaining the skills of a designer. We provide a solid-wood designer home (yours to keep!) as your canvas. During our 12 hours together, we will focus on two core skills:
Take Home More Than Just a HouseBecause every great designer’s work is never truly “done,” you’ll head home with a beautiful house in progress and the crafting and 3D modeling skills to keep designing and printing new furniture whenever you want. Camp Details

| The Daisy and Brownie STEM Marathon |
| Join LabSpace Robotics for a three-day, hands-on STEM “marathon” designed to take the mystery out of robotics and engineering. We use a “maker-first” approach where girls learn by doing—building real prototypes and using LEGO Spike sets with intuitive, icon-based coding. What the girls will create: Mechanical Engineering: Makers will explore forces and energy by building a jumping “leap-bot,” engineering a functional “extendo-hand” tool from cardboard, and designing their own custom board game from scratch. Robotics & Coding: Using LEGO Spike, girls will build their own robotic creations and learn to “speak” to them using code to complete various tasks and creative challenges. Badges Earned: Mechanical Engineering 1 (Board Game Design Challenge for Daisies / Leap Bot Design Challenge for Brownies) Robotics 1: What Robots Do / Programming Robots Robotics 2: How Robots Move / Designing Robots Coding for Good 1: Coding Basics Registration Information: We’ll meet July 20, 21 and 22 from 9:00-12:00. This is before the mall is officially open. Please park on the HyVee side of the mall between Ross and the Car Wash. Come to the mall entrance near WiiPro (not Pennys or Ross ). If no one is at the door to let you in, please call (573) 645-0800. |

| Maker Skills Workshops |
| Maker Skills Workshops: Summer SeriesJuly 27, 28, & 29 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Join us at the LabSpace workbench for three days of building and problem-solving. These workshops are designed for kids who want to go beyond basic crafts and learn how to make things that are sturdy, functional, and well-designed. We’ll be using real tools and a variety of materials—from cardboard to tin cans—to build projects from the ground up. You can sign up for a single day or join us for the full three-day series. The Schedule:Monday, July 27: Recyclable Desk Caddy We’re focusing on the balance between “form and function.” It’s one thing to make a box look cool, but it’s another to make sure it can actually hold the weight of your tools without tipping over. We’ll be using all sorts of recyclables to build a rock-solid organizer designed to fit the specific gear you use at home. Girl Scouts – This session fulfills the requirements for the Tinker and Create badges. Tuesday, July 28: Mechanical Story-Boxes This session is about mechanical motion. We’ll build a frame and learn how to use cams and axles to make things move. Getting these machines to run smoothly takes some patience and troubleshooting. Once the mechanics are set, makers can use our scrap bins to build a moving 3D scene on top. Wednesday, July 29: Desktop Pinball Arcade We’ll be building working pinball games from scratch. This is a classic “tinker” project—you’ll design a launcher, figure out where to place your flipper arms, and test the angles of your bumpers. We’ll spend our time testing and tweaking the design until the game is fun and challenging to play. The Details:
