Simple Machines and Robotics Camp-Grades 2-4
06/15/2026 - 06/18/2026
1:00 pm CDT - 4:00 pm CDT
Simple Machines & Robotics Camp
Grades: 2-4 (Rising) Dates: June 15-18 Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Admit 1: $125 | Admit 2: $220 Location: LabSpace Robotics, LLC at Capital Mall
From Foundational Engineering to Smart Robots! Ever wonder how a tiny motor can lift a heavy load, or how gears make a racing car fly? This camp is designed to take junior engineers “under the hood” of how things work. Using a combination of specialized simple machine sets and programmable robotics kits, your child will transition from manual mechanics to high-tech automation.
The Week’s Highlights:
-
Mechanical Mastery: We explore the six simple machines—the “building blocks” of all modern engineering. Campers will build various models to see how pulleys, levers, and gears change direction, increase speed, or provide “muscle” (torque).
-
The “Power Up” Moment: This is where the magic happens! We’ll integrate motorized hubs and sensors into our mechanical builds to bring them to life.
-
Icon-Based Coding: Campers will use software to make their machines “smart”—learning to program their robots to move, react, and solve engineering challenges.
-
Linkages & Motion: We’ll dive into the world of linkages and “automata”—mechanical creations that move through a series of connected levers and pivots.
-
Hands-on Maker Projects: Throughout the week, students will work on unique engineering projects to take home, allowing them to share their new “maker” skills with the whole family!
