Dates: June 20th & June 27th 10:00-12:00
Location: LabSpace Robotics, Jefferson City
We are teaming up with 4-H to get some robots moving this summer! This two-session workshop is designed specifically for students aged 8 to 10 (though older siblings are welcome to join the fun).
What we’ll be doing:
- Build & Program: Students will work together to build a custom robot and learn the logic behind the code to make it move, turn, and react.
- The Challenges: We’ll put those robots to the test with some fun “missions” and obstacle courses. We’ll explore how sensors can make our robots more capable.
- Real-World Tech: It’s not just about toys; we’ll spend time looking at how and why robots are used in the real world.
Important Details:
- Family Participation: Since robotics can sometimes be a “three-handed” job, we ask that our 8-year-old builders bring a hands-on adult with them to help navigate the building steps.
- Cost: The total cost is $40 per student for both sessions. However, Moniteau 4-H is generously covering half of that, so your total out-of-pocket will be $20. (This is for Moniteau County 4-H’ers only.)
- The Goal: We want kids to walk away not just with a cool project for the fair, but with a better understanding of how the tech around them actually works.
Note: We like to keep things relaxed and collaborative here. If you have an older student who wants to tag along and help or build, they are more than welcome.
