Sold Out Game Design – Intro Level

The pace of this class will be geared to 10-13 year olds.  This class may be repeated.  We’ll design different style games in each session. Please send a thumbdrive to class with your child.  

How do you design and program a video game?  Game engines are tools you can use to make creating your own game easier.  This workshops uses the Clickteam Fusion Game engine to create 2-D games.    We’ll be building several types of games in class.  We all create the same type of game, but your choice of art, winning condition, and game play mean that no two games are the same.

We’ll explore how to detect collisions, add or subtract from score, create enemies and more in the intro level class.

We’ll be meeting Sept 14-Nov 2 on Thursdays 5:30-6:20.  Two of the planned games types are mazes and catching games.  We will cover at least these two types of games and possibly a third. My goal in this class is to provide you the tools necessary to use the ClickTeam Game Engine on your own so you can bring your ideas to life.
