We’ll be using the Scratch programming language that was developed at MIT to introduce students ages 8-16 to coding concepts.
Scratch is a great starting place for coding. The environment was developed to make learning big concepts easier. Students will learn about loops, events, wait statements and variables at a level they can understand. Then, when they are ready to move onto text-based programming, they have this understanding already in place.
Level 1 – 9/15-10/13 Thursdays 4:30-5:20 Tuition: $50
This level assumes no previous experience. We will start at the beginning with the basic layout and commands of Scratch. We’ll introduce if/then statements and loops, and talk about user interfaces and user input.
Level 2 – 10/20-11/17 Thursdays 4:30-5:20 Tuition: $50
Level 2 will work to develop more independence with projects. We’ll introduce variables and Boolean logic.
Level 3 – 12/1-12/8 Thursdays 4:30-5:20 Tuition: $30
Level 3 will continue to develop independence with projects and begin working on project planning. We’ll work to solidify the concepts introduced in levels 1 and 2.
